Mentoring

Help individuals succeed One Step At a Time

Did you know that people who have MENTORS when they get out of prison are much less likely to go back?

Re-entry Mentors help men and women transitioning out of prison to become self-sustaining in the community. Our volunteer mentors make a real difference by:

  • Building relationships with men and women who need a second chance.
  • Reducing the likelihood that people will return to prison by helping them to develop life skills.
  • Increasing public safety in the Tucson/Pima County area.

Mentors come from all backgrounds and possess a variety of life experiences. They are men and women of all ages, both faith based and non-faith based, who want to offer non-judgmental support.

How do I become a Volunteer Mentor?

  • Possess a desire to make a real difference in the life of another
  • Commit to serve as a positive role model and friend
  • Be 21 years or older
  • Complete a written application and personal interview
  • Provide three personal references
  • Pass a background and criminal history check. Persons with felony convictions will be considered if two years have passed since completion of the sentence and all supervision.
  • Attend required orientation and training sessions
  • Perform at least four hours of mentoring per month
  • Make a one year commitment to the program
  • Download Volunteer Mentor Application
