Transitional Housing
Casa Santa Clara for Men and Oasis House for Women
A safe transitional housing opportunity for men and women who are open to the possibility of recovering from a history of substance and/or alcohol abuse. Our residents focus on employment and future permanent housing needs after graduating our programs. We offer a structured living environment in six locations in Tucson. Residents live in a “home setting” with telephone, cable television, Bedding, and laundry facilities. All locations are close to the city bus lines, and all properties have live-in House Managers that offer support and guidance. We offer several employment and clinical program opportunities. Every prospective resident will be screened for enrollment in the appropriate program at intake, and every person is assigned a Case Manager to help each resident. Weekly program fees range from $90 to $115.
Casa Mariposa
A joint community venture sponsored in partnership with Southern Arizona Center Against Sexual Assault. Welcoming and supportive environment for survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence or stalking. Referrals and connections to services for therapy, support groups, job training and skill building, and recovery from substance abuse and drug or alcohol addiction. Residents cook for themselves and have access to food in the house, if indigent. Bedding, telephone, cable television and laundry facilities are provided. Convenient access to public transportation.
Casa Veterans
An innovative partnership with the Veterans Administration with a focus on veteran men newly released from the criminal justice system, and local homeless veterans returning to the community following treatment or detoxification. Stable, safe environment in a structured transitional living program at two locations in Tucson. Residents cook for themselves and have access to food in the house, if indigent. Telephones, cable television, bedding and laundry facilities are provided in the houses. Public transportation is convenient.
Individualized Case Management
Attention is given to each client to establish a personal plan for recovery. Plans are self-directed by the client with guidance and advice from the Case Manager so that the client takes ownership of the plan. Practices proven effective through research and evaluation are used to move the client toward increased self-sufficiency, financial responsibility and recovery. Close collaboration with probation, parole officers and Department of Economic Security/Child Protective Services ensures clients meet their mandated services. All Case Managers participate in monthly training on best practices in the field.
Mentoring
A joint program with Primavera Foundation and the Prisoner Re-Entry Partnership (PREP) to assist newly released individuals in attaining a greater quality of life and improve the transition back into the community through mentoring relationships. Allows volunteer mentors to commit to supporting, guiding and being a friend to an individual previously incarcerated for a period of at least six months. By becoming part of this social network, the mentee can develop and reach positive academic, career and personal goals. It empowers individuals in our community to make positive life choices that enable them to maximize their potential.
Employability Support
One of the most important issues in helping ex-offenders make a successful transition back into the community and attain self-sufficiency is attaining steady employment at a livable wage. To meet this need, a full-time Job Developer assists clients in locating and securing employment. This includes assistance with skills such as resume writing, interviewing for a job, dressing for work and a referral base for job placement. In addition, we partner with Pima County Jackson Employment Center to offer job skills training and job-placement assistance.

Programs
Substance Abuse Treatment and Counseling
Residents are offered in-house group and individual outpatient substance abuse counseling through an agreement with Compass Healthcare and the Center for Applied Behavioral Health Policy. Funding for these services is provided through a grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. Residents participate in 24 group sessions over a twelve week period. Services are guided by evidence-based practices, to include Motivational Interviewing, Community Reinforcement Approach and Contingency Management.
Life Skills Training
Ex-offenders have learned certain behaviors and skills while incarcerated that were necessary for day-to-day survival in that environment, many of which do not serve them well once they are released from prison or jail. In fact, they are often counter productive to success. Life Skills Training provides an additional foundation for clients’ success
in becoming self-sufficient and financially responsible. Skills training provided include:
- Personal budgeting
- Cash management
- Credit rebuilding
- Anger management
- Relationship building
- Shopping for economy and nutrition
- Healthy cooking
- Commitment and responsibility to self and others
Research demonstrates that when individuals are equipped to maintain steady employment, maintain stable relationships with family and friends, and sustain financial independence, there is an increase in sobriety. Many of these issues are interdependent, requiring the use of a multidisciplinary intervention to increase the successful outcomes for our clients.
Outpatient Program
Old Pueblo Community Services is a licensed Outpatient Clinic for Substance Abuse Counseling. We are able to provide assessment, treatment planning, outpatient group and individual services, and discharge planning to individuals with substance use disorders and persons with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. Services may be provided both at our Outpatient Facility and at satellite housing locations. All services are guided by the use of evidence based practices to include Motivational Interviewing, Community Reinforcement Approach, and Contingency Management. These services have been implemented with the assistance of the Center for Applied Behavioral Health Policy. In addition, all staff meet or exceed professional standards established by the Department of Health Services, Office of Behavioral Health Licensure, and receive clinical supervision in evidence based practices by subject matter experts.
